Carey was a fashion model. She stands almost 5'10" tall, and was popular among famous American designers such as Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren as well as others. In 1979, the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists named the father of her Scientist of the Year. Carey was a frequent traveler because of her father's work. While she attended in the University of Colorado, Carey started modeling for a side. An agent from Ford model agency located in New York noticed her and offered to help. She moved to France in the year 1980, and lived for a short time in Paris and Bordeaux prior to deciding to move back to New York to continue with her studies at the college level and her modeling career and was soon being featured on the cover of Vogue, Glamour, etc. While modeling and continued to pursue her studies in full-time a major in literature within New York University. As time passed, she was drawn to acting and studied at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York. She began her acting career by playing a minor part in the film 'Club Paradise" in 1986, starring Robin Williams. Her leisure time is spent in wind surfing, skiing as well as rock climbing, and white water river rafting.
